Facebook Update

Status update: I am still on lots of drugs and my headaches are still pretty uncomfortable. I spend my day sleeping or getting poked for blood. I am missing my babies today but am trying to just not think about them so I don't cry. Reinforcements have arrived. Grandma Luke arrived this morning and we are so grateful that she is here to help! The kids are of course excited to play with her too.I am glad for the emotional support that she will be for Brent this week. My daddy,Dave Powell, spent the day sitting with me while I slept. He brought some pretty flowers too! I think my mom will come back up again tomorrow to sit for the day.

My team is debating treatment options (immediate vs long term). They are still researching the complications of each option and of course the welfare of the baby through each one. We are still feeling encouraged but are praying for the heavenly guidance that we will need in order to make the best choice for baby and for me. I feel your prayers. Keep 'em coming! I also am thoroughly enjoying your comments and notes about your own experiences. Your stories are giving me strength that I too can get through this trial. Now you're all making me cry! Blah! ♡♥♡ — with Brent Luke.

Alright friends, I am in Denver at the university hospital. I have transferred here to be taken care of by the neurologists and ob doctors here. I am excited to have experienced experts working on me. In the few hours that I have been here I have had multiple tests started, another MRI, a MRV, and blood work like crazy. They are testing for a reason other than pregnancy for my clotting. They are going to understand the what and how and why of every thing that is happening with me. They are going to come up with a game plan for the headaches, for the clots, for the rest of my pregnancy and for what will need to happen afterwards. I will be very well taken care of here. Hopefully this process will only take a few days and then I will go home.

We are so very grateful for the prayers and faith that have been offered up for me. We know that it is partly because of the support and love of our friends and family that action was taken today to change my situation for the better. I am in much happier spirits tonight and my faith has been strengthened. I told Bishop Whetten a few days ago that I was at the end of my rope and I needed others to help me lengthen it. My rope has been lengthened and strengthened and I am ready for what this week has to bring.

Please keep our little family in your prayers and the doctors that they will be guided. I can feel your prayers and I love you for them. We will keep you posted! — withBrent Luke.

Update: I thought yesterday was my lowest day, little did I know that today was coming. I am so grateful for my mommy holding my hand through all of this. This too shall pass.

Ellie told Grandma this morning that she was sick too because she wanted to go to the hospital to see mommy. "I sick too grandma."

New update: I had a rough night and day today. I reacted poorly to my meds and am now physically and emotionally drained. I am on more mild pain killers and if I have a good night will go home tomorrow. I am tired enough to sleep like the dead tonight. Here's hoping!

Update: drugs are good. My pain is under control. As the clot shrinks my headaches will decrease. They have been doing more testing today and are weaning me to oral meds. I gave myself a shot today which was fine (blood thinner). I had an upbeat day with a few visitors and a riot of a nurse. I walked for 1/2 hour around our medical floor loop which wore me out but felt awesome. Pretty tired tonight after such a stimulating day. We are in touch with a perinatal doctor in Denver who is helping us get my meds figured out for our plan of attack at home. I am planning to go home Friday.

I am a phenomenon. The doctors are all in a tizzy about me. This is pretty rare so I am getting lots of extra attention and care. The neurologist said, "we get tons and tons of people with headaches and we do scan after scan and find nothing, but you, Miss Luke, are the reason that we do all of those scans!" Matt Larsen, Brent Luke and I have been laughing about your post about getting sick this month. I have lots of excited little followers in my room.

We are so grateful for the support and help from everyone. It is easier for me to rest knowing that my family is being taken care of. I am grateful for the Lord's tender mercies. This could have been so much worse or escalated to something beyond our imaginations. We feel so blessed and loved. Angels are truly all around us and those are the people I call friends. Thank you for being the amazing people that you are. Hugs and loves..

There is a physical reason for my headaches this week. I have a blood clot on my brain. Mine is called "sagittal sinus dural venous thrombosis." The doctors I am working with have never seen it before. I will be getting blood thinners every 12 hours and pain killers for the headaches. I will get out of the hospital when my pain is manageable at home. I will need lots of help though because I will most likely be on narcotics for a few weeks. I am also expecting to be on blood thinners throughout the rest of my pregnancy. Yep, we are expecting #4, which is part of why I developed the clot. We are excited to complete our family. We had an ultrasound yesterday and our little bean looked good. Here's hoping for a fast recovery!

There was this one time when I wanted to die because my head felt like it was going to explode for four days... ya, that was fun.

(In the ER yesterday, but the headache is back.)
